Computer Suppliers
How to spot reliable Computer Suppliers?
As you may know, computer suppliers don’t offer the same products and services. As such, you should choose the right place to shop for your computer systems carefully. You have the option of buying from auction sites, but expect to find no discount computer suppliers there because auctions tend to cater to stores selling hard-to-find old parts. Some stores only cater to one brand and usually provide excellent services for that particular manufacturer’s products.
Three common types of computer parts suppliers exist – computer dynasty stores, private-owned local computer shops and mail-order suppliers, each with a list of pros and cons.
Computer dynasties : These are considered the big boys of the computer supplies industry because they have several chains all over the country. The good thing about such stores is that they allow consumers to test the systems in the store before you take the computer home. Due to their large stocks, they are often referred to as computer wholesalers that provide packages bundled with the latest operating system and must-have software. They offer 1-year or 2-year warranties and usually provide a full refund should you feel unsatisfied with the computer’s performance. They accept credit cards and offer flexible payment terms. However, most of their products are more expensive compared to private-owned and mail order stores. Also, since they have over a dozen stores with hundreds of employees, the staff usually lacks technical expertise, resulting in unnecessary recommendations of computer parts and peripherals. Only a few of these stores allow you to customize the system to your preferred specifications.
Private-owned local computer shops: These wholesale computer suppliers provide customizable systems that allow consumers to buy a computer based on their exact requirements. Since these shops are privately owned, they often have a few qualified personnel that can provide personal service and good recommendations. In most cases, you can speak to the storeowner or the technician building your system, giving you a chance to ask questions throughout the process. Unfortunately, you may not have plenty of options concerning price and product availability. Most of these stores only accept cash. Also, if the shop closes down, you immediately lose warranty coverage.
Mail-order suppliers: These computer distributors usually offer competitive prices and accept flexible payment options. You can get a customized computer built to your specifications, usually bundled with an operating system and the latest software. The staff and customer support of mail order suppliers usually have good technical knowledge about their products should you ask for recommendations or questions. However, delivery times may vary and could take up to a week or so. Although these stores offer warranties, they may require you to shoulder shipping fees if you have to return the system back.
Before shopping around for computer component suppliers, you should weigh these pros and cons to determine which type of supplier can provide value for your money.
